Rachel Rushefsky was introduced to Sherlock Holmes by her grandparents. They had a full, illustrated copy of the Holmes stories on their shelves, and a tape cassette of the audio dramas that played during car rides. The tape was almost always set to start with The Speckled Band, and it took Rachel an embarrassingly long time to realize that was probably not an accident.
Laura Dawson was turned onto Sherlock Holmes by Rachel in around 2010, when the BBC series Sherlock came out – at which point Laura began devouring everything she could find on Holmes and Conan Doyle, from the original stories, to biographies, to her bible, The Annotated Sherlock Holmes.
